  ::...What is Vaginal Discharge?

Under healthy conditions, there is a discharge of milky, nonsmelling fluid from vagina which is known as normal vaginal discharge. This discharge is to help keep the vagina moist. There is rise in the discharge during pregnancy or when a woman is sexually aroused.

  ::...What is Vaginal Infection?

Micro-organisms such as candida, trichomonas or bacteria can cause infection in Vagina.

  ::...What are the symptoms of vaginal
        infections?

Itching, soreness swelling at vagina. Discharge with foul smell, Discomfort during sex, Discomfort while passing urine.

  ::...What is treatment?

Doctor advises vaginal tablets or suppositories to be inserted in vagina at bedtime for 3 to 7 consecutive nights. A soothing cream may be advised for skin around to ease the itching and soreness. Some times oral medicines may be advised.

  ::...How to prevent vaginal infection?

Take care of personal hygiene. After going to toilet always wipe from front to back to avoid getting germs into vagina. Wear loose fitting cotton underwear Avoid vaginal deodorants.

In case of vaginal infection, take a complete course of treatment as advised by doctor so as to avoid recurrence of infection. Inform the doctor regarding your complaints without any embarrassment.
